US AIRWAYS AIRCRAFT STRUCK BY LIGHTENING

A US Airways Dash 8-300 made a safe emergency landing in Lynchburg Regional Airport on Wednesday morning after being struck by lightning. The flight was en route from Charlotte to Lynchburg, when it was hit. The plane was just 20 miles south of its destination and made an emergency landing without incident at approximately the time it was scheduled to arrive.

The pilot reported an electrical failure to the Federal Aviation Administration, which is investigating the incident.
