Following the NTSB reports on the British Airways 777 engine fire in Las Vegas last month that indicated a fault with an engine component, GE is investigating out-of-service versions of the engine component to further determine the cause of the engine failure. The failure in GE90 engine was not contained by the engine’s casing and several pieces of the high pressure compressor spool were found on the runway.
