Air India’s restructuring programme has been delayed by three months. Local media suggests the delay is due to the government’s desire to revisit the total equity demand of the airline for this fiscal as also its fleet expansion plans, with the view that they may need to be scaled down. The airline had been seeking Rs6,600 crore more equity for this fiscal and fleet expansion by almost a 100 aircraft over the next decade.
