Ohana to start ops soon, says Hawaiian Airlines

Hawaiian Airlines has stated that its fledgling turboprop subsidiary Ohana by Hawaiian could begin flying between Honolulu and two of Hawaii’s smallest islands within a few weeks. Hawaiian Airlines Presdient and CEO Mark Dunkerley confirmed that the airline is in the final stages of the Federal Aviation Administration’s certification process.

The airline took delivery of its first ATR-42 aircraft earlier this month.

“We are cautiously optimistic that we’re talking in numbers of weeks until we can start service, as opposed to numbers of months,” Dunkerley said. If approved, Ohana by Hawaiian will enter the interisland market with flights between Honolulu International Airport and Lanai Airport, and between Honolulu and Molokai Airport.
