Middle East low cost airline capacity up 18%

A study by Amadeus has shown that low cost carriers (LCCs) in the Middle East have increased seat capacity to 13.5 million during the first half of 2013.

flydubai has launched flights to 65 destinations since its inception in 2008, and began services to 15 new destinations in 2013 alone. Flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith has also indicated that there are many more destinations within the 5.5-hour flying radius that the airline can fly to if the demand is there.

Air Arabia CEO Adel Ali has stated that the airline will be launching “a minimum” of five routes out of Sharjah every year.
