Hawaiian set to order A330neo on top of strong Q2 growth

Hawaiian Airlines has announced plans to order six A330neos, with options to purchase another six. The order is worth up to $2.9bn, and is part of the airline’s long-haul expansion plans.

Significantly, the order for the A330neo replaces an existing order for six A350XWB-800 aircraft.

The airline has also reported strong profits during Q2 and H1 2014, with high demand and cost controls helping net income for the period more than double to $27.3 million, or 43 cents per-share, from $11.3 million, or 21 cents per-share, a year earlier.

Quarterly operating revenue also rose 8% to $575.7 million, with load factors of 79%.
