Aviation services company AAR has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Aircraft Reconfig Technologies.
AAR will acquire the aircraft interiors engineering company from ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions for $35 million in an all-cash transaction.
Upon closing, AAR said it will immediately expand its engineering and certification capabilities in its Repair & Engineering segment.
AAR said the deal will allow it to “further differentiate itself as the leading independent MRO provider in North America”.
Aircraft Reconfig Technologies is an engineering company specialising in passenger aircraft reconfiguration for commercial airlines. The company has a team of around 100 staff and is based in Greensboro, North Carolina.
AAR noted the company's “robust IP portfolio”, which includes patents, parts manufacturer approval (PMA), and supplemental type certificates.
Aircraft Reconfig Technologies holds FAA Part 21 and 183 organisation designation authorisation, which AAR said will reduce its “reliance on third parties for design certification”.
“Incorporating these qualifications into AAR's Repair & Engineering segment will expand AAR's design capabilities for more complex aircraft modification work to complement its MRO offering,” AAR said in a statement.
John Holmes, chairman, president, and CEO of AAR, said M&A is an “important element” of AAR's continued growth strategy.
“This acquisition will elevate AAR's engineering and in-house certification services to drive proprietary solutions as part of our broader MRO offering,” he said.
The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of AAR's fiscal year 2026, ending May 31.
Only last month, AAR acquired HAECO Americas in a $78 million all-cash transaction. In September, it acquired ADI in another all-cash deal worth $146 million.
Additionally, last year it closed its acquisition of MRO service provider Triumph Product Support from Triumph Group for $725 million in cash. The AAR acquired Trax for $120 million in cash.
