Taiwanese airline China Airlines has disclosed an order for 14 777X aircraft on May 8, 2025.

A spokesperson for the airline confirmed deliveries are expected to commence in 2030.

The order consists of 10 777-9 passenger aircraft and four 777-8 freighter airplanes. China Airlines booked the order in March 2025, which had been marked as an undisclosed order in its monthly orders results. The airline has options to purchase five 777-9s and four 777-8 freighters.

“This is a significant investment toward our future, and we will rely on the new 777X family to help realise our long-term sustainability goals,” said China Airlines chairman Kao Shing-Hwang.

Boeing vice president of commercial sales Northeast Asia Dan Schull said: “Operating the 777-9 and 777-8 freighter will allow China Airlines to add capacity and position the airline for further growth going forward.”

Additionally, as the tariff situation continues to unfold, the spokesperson said: “China Airlines is continuing to monitor the international situation closely. An agile passenger and cargo policy will be employed to ensure robust operations and boost competitiveness."
