South Korea's Jeju—Seoul Gimpo named busiest airline route in 2025 by OAG

South Korea's Seoul Gimpo to Jeju route has been named the busiest airline route in 2025, according to new data from OAG.

OAG's global airline schedules data found that 14.4 million seats were scheduled between the Seoul airport and Jeju Island in 2025. This is up 1% compared with the previous year. However, capacity is still down 17% compared to 2019 levels.

OAG noted that seven carriers operate on this “intensely competitive route”.

Sapporo New Chitose-Tokyo Haneda held the second spot with 12.1 million scheduled seats, while Fukuoka-Tokyo Haneda held the third with 11.5 million seats.

The top 10 routes are all domestic routes, with the Asia-Pacific region holding 9 out of 10.

“For Asia Pacific to be home to nine out of the ten largest routes in the world, all of which are domestic, is a remarkable indication of how these routes have recovered in recent times and their significance to the airlines operating those sectors,” said OAG chief analyst John Grant.

The only non-Asia Pacific route in the top 10 is Saudi Arabia's Jeddah–Riyadh service. This route has seen the fastest growth of any of the top 10, growing 13% to 9.8 million seats.

Additionally, Hong Kong–Taipei remains the busiest cross-border route with 6.8 million seats scheduled this year.
