Emirates has purchased four A380 aircraft from lessor Doric Nimrod Air Three, the latter shared on July 11, 2025.
Emirates had leased the four jets for 12 years, with the sale dates coinciding with their respective lease end dates. This is expected between August 25 and November 14, 2025, for MSNs 132, 134 and 136, and August 27 for MSN 133.
The date of MSN 133 was agreed to allow for required maintenance scheduled to take place outside of Dubai.
The total paid for the four assets is around $180 million, comprising $25 million for the purchase of the title and $20 million for the buyout of the return conditions for each aircraft.
The sales comes as the lessor moves towards liquidation, with the net sale proceeds to be distributed to shareholders.
“Payment of monies to shareholders is therefore currently expected to be made in the first calendar quarter of 2026," the lessor said in a statement. "It is currently anticipated that the process for liquidation of the company will commence as soon as practicably possible thereafter.”
The lessor added that it expects its last interim dividend to be declared by the company will be in October this year.
Emirates said on July 1 it is upgrading its services to Shanghai and Singapore with A380 deployments in response to growing demand. The company is also expanding schedules to Milan, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires this winter.
The company is also adding more retrofitted 777s and A380s on its existing schedules to Shanghai and Zurich.
