EASA extends Middle East conflict zone advisory amid continued volatility

European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has extended its advisory on operations in parts of the Middle East, as continued instability in the region disrupts air travel and keeps risk levels elevated.

The regulator said it has published an extension to its Conflict Zone Information Bulletin (CZIB), which will now remain in force until April 24, covering multiple countries across the Gulf and wider region.

“This decision reflects the continued volatility of the situation, including reported violations of the ceasefire. The extension will allow for close monitoring of developments and assessment of the evolution of threat and risk situation,” an EASA spokesperson told Airline Economics.

The advisory applies to all altitudes across the airspace of Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

The move comes as nearly six weeks of conflict in the region continue to weigh on aviation, forcing airlines to reroute flights, cancel services and absorb higher operating costs.
