Blue Islands receives ATR 72-600 aircraft, CEO laments delivery delays

Channel Islands regional airline Blue Islands received its latest ATR 72-600 aircraft on June 13, 2025.

The company's CEO Rob Veron said the new aircraft will help the airline “earn back" the trust of its customers.

“Aircraft maintenance issues, delayed parts, and weather damage all hit us simultaneously, causing last-minute cancellations disruption,” explained Veron in a LinkedIn post. “On top of that, this new aircraft, which was meant to solve these problems, got delayed by supply chain issues — only adding to the problem.”

Veron apologised for the “frustration and inconvenience”, adding that he understood many of customers felt “let down” by the service disruptions driven by these challenges.

The airline now expects fewer cancellations and more reliable service over the coming weeks, facilitated by the new aircraft.
