The average US air fare decreased 1.2% in the first quarter of 2025 from the fourth quarter of last year, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS).
The report considered domestic air fare, which averaged at $397 during the quarter, compared to $402 in fourth quarter 2024.
The report is based on approximately 10% of tickets sold and the breakout of trip types included 39% one-way trips averaging at $288 and 61% round-trips, averaging $478. Additionally, ancillary service fees were not included.
