Ascend Airways takes delivery of one 737-8; plans to expand fleet in 2025

Ascend Airways UK, subsidiary of aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance (ACMI) provider Avia Solutions Group, has added one 737-8 to its fleet.

The aircraft, which was subleased in December from Avia Solutions Group’s subsidiary SmartLynx, was manufactured in 2017.

“This aircraft aligns perfectly with our strategy of offering the latest technology and most fuel-efficient aircraft to customers,” said Alastair Willson, CEO of Ascend Airways UK. “We will adjust our aircraft configurations seasonally, shifting to an all-economy configuration during summer to meet higher leisure travel demand, while maintaining a two-class setup during winter to target Middle East and Southeast Asian markets.”

Currently, Ascend Airways UK operates two aircraft –one 737-800 and one 737-8. The airline plans to expand further with the addition of three aircraft in the first quarter of 2025 and aims to operate a total of six aircraft by the summer season.
