Air Transat adds new routes to Istanbul and Guyana capital Georgetown

Canadian leisure carrier Air Transat has completed its inaugural flights to Istanbul and Georgetown, capital of Guyana.

The inaugural flights both departed from Toronto Pearson International Airport on December 16.

The Toronto–Istanbul route will operate twice weekly year-round, with an additional third weekly flight from May 2026.

The Toronto–Georgetown service operates twice weekly and has already been extended to May 29, 2026. Air Transat serves this route with the Airbus A321LR aircraft.

"Introducing Istanbul and Georgetown from Toronto is a strategic step in diversifying our offer while serving travellers flying to visit friends and family," said Sebastian Ponce, Air Transat's chief revenue officer.

"Istanbul unlocks a world of onward possibilities through our partnership with Turkish Airlines, and Georgetown strengthens ties with Canada's Guyanese community.

“Together, these routes invite discovery and deliver the seamless comfort that defines Air Transat."

Air Transat took delivery of its first Airbus A321LR aircraft in May 2019.
