Airlines for America (A4A) president and CEO Nicholas E. Calio announced on January 14, 2025, that he will retire at the end of the year. He has led the association of passenger and cargo carriers for 14 years.
Calio had played a transformative role for A4A, relaunching the association by collaborating with airlines, labour unions, Congress, various agencies, and foreign governments to promote safety, security, and health for the US aviation industry.
“All of this has been possible because of A4A's strong board of directors,” said Calio. “I have been fortunate to work for and with some of the sharpest minds in business over the past 14 years.”
He added: “Together, we have accomplished so much for so many, and I have learned from their counsel and benefited from their enduring friendship.”
A4A Board Chairman and United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby and Board Vice Chairman and American Airlines CEO Robert Isom will be directing the search for Calio's successor, to begin immediately.
