New airline Air Mekong has submitted a plan to raise its chartered capital by selling a 30% stake to US airline SkyWest for approval by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport. Air Mekong, which launched its first flight last October, said the sale would help the enterprise resolve its technological and human resource problems.
SkyWest has been reported to be paying $7 million for the stake in Air Mekong, the maximum foreign holding allowed by Vietnamese law, although this has not been confirmed by either party.
