Menzies Aviation ground handlers at Heathrow Airport suspended going on strike on December 16 after what trade union Unite said was “improved pay offer”. The “last ditch peace talks” averted a strike that was scheduled to run through Christmas, prompting warnings that travellers could face delays or cancellations. Unite said the suspension was “a gesture of goodwill” ahead of balloting its members on Menzies’ new pay offer. The threat to go on strike from December 29 still stands, Unite said in a statement.
