Vietjet Air is increasing capacity by 18% year-on-year during Vietnam’s upcoming peak holiday period, adding 130,000 seats to meet strong domestic travel demand.
The carrier will operate nearly 3,800 flights between April 25 and May 5, including around 500 additional services, representing a 16% increase in flights compared to the same period last year. Total capacity is expected to reach approximately 832,000 seats.
The uplift is concentrated on high-density domestic routes linking major cities and leisure destinations, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Phu Quoc, reflecting continued strength in Vietnam’s internal travel market outside of the Lunar New Year peak.
The expanded schedule positions Vietjet to capture one of the busiest travel periods of the year, driven by the extended public holiday covering Reunification Day and International Labour Day.
Alongside domestic growth, the airline continues to expand its regional footprint, with recently announced routes including Da Nang–Jakarta, Nha Trang–Singapore and Hanoi–Shizuoka, supporting broader Asia-Pacific network development.
The capacity increase highlights ongoing recovery and growth in Southeast Asian short-haul markets, where low-cost carriers are continuing to stimulate demand through frequency and network expansion.
