United Technologies India has reported that it is in advanced discussions for floating five joint ventures in engine-component manufacturing.
Vivek Saxena, country manager of Pratt and Whitney, said the joint ventures were expected to be floated in a year's time, with one to be announced shortly.
Taking the joint-venture approach the firm hopes will help ensure operational control in developing the suppliers' standard, he said. The company at present has 16 aerospace suppliers.
