Turkish Airlines appoints new chairman and CEO in management reshuffle

The airline named Prof. Murat Şeker as chairman of the board and executive committee, while Ahmet Olmuştur has been appointed chief executive officer.

Şeker, who has served as chief financial officer since 2016, takes on the chairman role after holding responsibilities across finance, treasury, procurement and investor relations. He has also been a member of the airline’s board and executive committee since 2021.

Before joining Turkish Airlines, Şeker held senior roles at the World Bank and Turkish lender, Ziraat Bank, focusing on international funding, financial institutions and economic policy. He has also been chair of the International Air Transport Association’s financial advisory council since 2025.

Olmuştur, previously chief commercial officer, steps into the CEO role after a long career within the airline. He began at Turkish Airlines in 2000 as a part-time call centre employee and progressed through revenue management, pricing and distribution roles before leading the carrier’s sales and marketing operations.

Since 2014, he has overseen key commercial functions including network planning, pricing strategy, customer experience and the Miles & Smiles loyalty programme.

The appointments come as the carrier continues to align its leadership structure with its corporate and strategic objectives.
