Tupelo Regional Airport rejects two airline bids

Tupelo Regional Airport has rejected two bids from two separate airlines to provide service to the airport due to concerns over passenger convenience. Delta Air Lines has dropped services to the airport.

SeaPort Airlines and Multi-Aero (Air Choice One) had both submitted proposals to the airport to provide air service through the U.S. Department of Transportation's Essential Air Service program. However, Tupelo Mayor Jack Reed Jr. said the two proposals "do not meet the current regulatory requirements of 19-seat aircraft."

"Furthermore, the level of service will be a great disadvantage to any airline and our airport without support from Delta Airlines through codeshare and joint ticket pricing, allowing passengers to easily flow through the national airports system," Reed said.
