STARLUX secures eight A321neo aircraft from BOC Aviation

STARLUX Airlines has agreed to acquire eight Airbus A321neo aircraft from BOC Aviation’s UK subsidiary, according to a stock exchange filing, as the carrier continues to expand its narrowbody fleet.

The transaction, approved by STARLUX’s board on March 10, covers eight aircraft with a disclosed reference value of approximately $81.25 million per unit, subject to escalation adjustments. The deal was agreed on a negotiated basis at market pricing, with the airline stating the aircraft will be used to support network expansion.

While the filing is structured as an asset acquisition, the involvement of BOC Aviation suggests the aircraft are likely being sourced via a leasing arrangement or lease-linked structure, although specific financing terms were not disclosed.

The latest move adds to STARLUX’s ongoing fleet growth strategy as it builds out its regional and medium-haul operations using the A321neo platform. The aircraft type plays a central role in the airline’s expansion across Asia, offering improved fuel efficiency and range compared with previous-generation narrowbodies.

The agreement also underlines continued demand from lessors for next-generation narrowbody placements, with the A321neo remaining one of the most sought-after aircraft types globally as airlines prioritise efficiency and network flexibility.
