Scandinavian airline SAS has set its sights on a “strategic leap” in summer 2026, driven by its largest route expansion to date.
As of today, SAS has added nine new routes and six new destinations, including a daily service from Copenhagen to Istanbul and a five times weekly service from Copenhagen to Mumbai.
The new routes will commence in March and in June 2026.
SAS said the new routes will increase seat capacity out of Copenhagen, its largest hub, by 20%, thus creating 50% more connecting opportunities.
The expansion also means that, in 2026, SAS will be flying to more destinations than in any previous summer.
Anko van der Werff, CEO and president of SAS, said the new route openings were aided by the airline's addition of two Airbus A330s.
Also under the expansion plans, several routes that SAS previously operated only during peak months will now run for the full season.
These include Copenhagen–Alesund, Copenhagen–Edinburgh, and Copenhagen–Thessaloniki.
SAS will also increase frequency across more than 30 other existing routes. Copenhagen will offer more departures on over 25 routes, while Stockholm and Oslo will offer additional flights to major destinations in Europe.
