Pratt & Whitney Canada opens new Morocco plant to boost engine production capacity

Pratt & Whitney Canada has opened a new manufacturing facility in Morocco as part of efforts to strengthen its global supply chain and expand production capacity for key engine programmes.

The site, located in the Midparc Industrial Zone in Nouaceur near Casablanca, spans 130,000 square feet and will produce detailed static and structural machined parts for the company’s aircraft engines, including its widely used PT6 engine family.

The facility is expected to create around 200 jobs by 2030, supporting growing demand for aircraft engines as the aviation sector continues to recover and expand.

Maria Della Posta, president of Pratt & Whitney Canada, said the new plant represents a “strategic extension” of the company’s global manufacturing network and reflects its focus on building more resilient supply chains while increasing output for customers.

Construction of the site began in 2024, with the facility moving rapidly to operational readiness, including workforce recruitment, technical training and the installation of advanced machining equipment. The plant has been designed using lean manufacturing principles and incorporates digital systems to enhance efficiency and quality.

The expansion also builds on the presence of Collins Aerospace, another RTX business, which has operated in Morocco since 2012 producing cockpit systems and flight controls. Combined, RTX now employs around 250 people in the country.

The move underscores Morocco’s growing role as an aerospace manufacturing hub, as global suppliers look to diversify production and reduce reliance on more concentrated supply chains.
