New Orleans Louis Armstrong International airport has abandoned plans to go private. The airport board has voted to end efforts to raise money by selling a long-term lease to a private operator.
The Federal Aviation Administration accepted the airport's preliminary application to privatise in 2008. However, the depressed economy and the ongoing recovery efforts following Hurricane Katrina have made attracting a bidder difficult, according to aviation board chairman Nolan Rollins.
