Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has warned it expects a loss for the year ended August 31 due to intensifying competition from budget carriers. The airline states it remains on target to return to profitability by 2018.
Passenger load factor fell slightly from 68.9% in the first quarter of 2016 to 68.6% in the second quarter – figures are not available for the previous year.
MAS plans to focus on "aggressive" marketing, while keeping costs in check, to generate revenue for the remainder of 2016.
