Malaysia Airlines is expanding its East Asia network with the launch of new routes to China and the resumption of flights to Japan, as it increases capacity across several markets.
The airline will introduce direct services from Kuala Lumpur to Shenzhen and Changsha from July 2026, while restarting flights to Fukuoka in September 2026, marking its return to the Japanese city after nearly two decades. The carrier last operated the route in September 2006.
With the addition of the new destinations, Malaysia Airlines said its China network will expand to nine gateways, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Taipei and Chengdu.
The expansion comes alongside increased flight frequencies on routes to destinations including Brisbane, Manila and Colombo, as the airline responds to rising demand and seeks to strengthen connectivity across Asia and beyond.
Malaysia Airlines also plans to operate additional Kuala Lumpur–London services on April 18 and 22, 2026, to accommodate passengers affected by recent disruptions involving Middle Eastern carriers.
