The North China Regional Administration of CAAC has proposed a CNY22,000 civil penalty against KLM for operating an aircraft with an expired Certificate of Airworthiness (CoA), its first civil penalty against a foreign carrier this year.
In a statement, the CAAC said that on May 12th 2014, a KLM B747 flew from Amsterdam to Beijing with an expired certificate of airworthiness.
The aircraft’s CoA expiry date was April 4th, 2014; as a result, its certificate of airworthiness had been expired for more than one month. CAAC explained that this was in clear violation of ICAO and Chinese civil aviation regulations.
