Kingfisher ordered to return leased aircraft

The Indian government has relented and de-registered and handed over 15 aircraft leased it to Kingfisher Airlines from lessors that have outstanding rental dues.
All but two of the leased aircraft held by Kingfisher – those belonging to DVB that are the subject of an ongoing lawsuit – will be returned to lessors. Kingfisher’s leased aircraft that remain in the country – approximately another 15 aircraft – cannot be de-registered since they have been cannabalised for parts.
The government is reported to have given in to pressure from the Indian aviation industry that had been impacted by the reluctance of leasing companies to lease aircraft into India since the Kingfisher debacle began.
