The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is launching an inspection into the influence of discounted offers on the movement of ticket prices with Indian carriers.
Experts said that the ‘fare wars’ were intended to consolidate market share before the entry of Malaysia based AirAsia into the market with AirAsiaBhd.
Airline passenger groups had previously reported operators to the CCI for increasing ticket prices after increases in fuel costs.
