India’s government has warned of rising and unpredictable airfares as fuel costs and operational disruption feed through to the aviation sector, requesting additional time to assess the situation.
In a submission to the Supreme Court, the government said it needed four weeks to review fare trends, highlighting volatility linked to the current geopolitical environment and rising input costs.
The intervention underscores growing regulatory scrutiny as airlines increase fares in response to higher fuel prices and operational challenges, with authorities monitoring the impact on consumers.
