Airlines have cancelled flights from Sudan to the newly independent South from yesterday as the route is now considered to be an international route, which means the flight must have landing permission from the South and passengers must have visas.
The closure of the domestic service comes the day after the deadline for half a million ethnic Southerners to return South or formalise their status in the north.
