Ed Pierson, a former senior manager at Boeing, is joining the board of directors at US-based consumer organisation Flyers Rights.
Flyers Rights said Pierson would provide "technical expertise" and "valuable guidance" for its mission to "promote aviation safety and consumer protection".
According to Flyers Rights, Pierson recommended stopping production of Boeing's 737 MAX before crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia in 2018 and 2019 that together resulted in 346 deaths.
