According to media reports, the United Arab Emirates official has lobbied against Canada's bid for a seat on the UN Security Council in retaliation for its refusal to allow UAE airlines more routes into Canada.
As part of the retaliation, Canadian troops are being forced to leave a UAE military base used to supply Canadian forces in Afghanistan.
