As a result of its merger with United Airlines, Continental Airlines has announced it will cut 500 downtown Houston jobs from April.
When the merger was announced, the new company said it would continue to employ most of its management and clerical workers in Houston through the end of March but now time is up and layoffs look likely.
The airline informed the Texas Workforce Commission in a letter late last month that cuts would begin in April and continue through June 30.
