Challenge Group has secured two 777-300 Extended Range Special Freighter (ERSF) converted aircraft through a lease agreement with AerCap.
The two aircraft, placed under the AOC of Challenge Group’s Maltese subsidiary, will become the first to be operated in Europe with the passenger to freighter (P2F) jet allowing for increased cargo capacity, with the ability to hold 25% more volume in comparison to the 777-200F.
Yossi Shoukroun, CEO of Challenge Group, described the acquisition of the two aircraft as a “historic moment” for the company and for Malta’s aviation sector.
“These aircraft, with their unparalleled capabilities, will enable us to meet the growing demands of global trade and reinforce our position as a key enabler in the supply chain,” added Shoukroun.
The ERSF aircraft, labelled the “Big Twin” conversion program, is a joint venture launched by AerCap in partnership with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).
