American Airlines has asked a federal district court judge in Fort Worth, Texas, to issue an injunction barring the National Mediation Board from overseeing a union-organizing election among the airline's customers-service agents.
The election is scheduled to begin June 21 and run through August 2.
American says that under a federal law, the Communications Workers of America needs signatures from 50% of eligible workers before an election can be held, which it has failed to meet.
