Abu Dhabi International Airport has reported a 12% increase in passenger traffic in 2010, with the airport handling nearly 11 million people. The figures have been boosted with the new airlines serving the capital as well as increase frequencies from airlines such as Etihad.
The airport suffered in 2009 from the global downturn and as a result posted just a 7% rise in traffic – the lowest level in several years.
Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) is marketing itself heavily internationally to welcome new carriers as part of the longer term aim of becoming a major hub for air travel, tourism and aerospace.
