Newly launched Iraqi carrier has received two CRJ-1000 regional jets from Jetcraft Commercial, the trading firm said today (January 20).

The new carrier is preparing to commence operations in March 2026.

The arrival of the aircraft played a role in the airline securing its air operator certificate (AOC) on December 24, 2025.

The fleet is expected to initially serve domestic routes from Baghdad, complemented by regional services to destinations including Dubai, Beirut, and Amman.

“The introduction of our two CRJ-1000 aircraft marks an important step in bringing Basra Airlines into service,” said Basra Airlines CEO and chairman Moffak Sabir Hamad. “Their efficiency, range and performance are well aligned with our phased launch approach, enabling us to establish reliable regional connectivity while laying the foundations for future international expansion.”

“This transaction reflects Jetcraft Commercial's ability to deliver tailored fleet solutions that meet the specific needs of new market entrants,” said Jetcraft Commercial president Raphael Haddad.

Jetcraft Commercial said it is continuing to strengthen its presence across the Middle East.
