Heathrow Airport Holdings Limited (previously BAA) announced the completion of the sale of Stansted airport to Manchester Airports Group (MAG) for £1.5bn on February 28. Heathrow Airport Holdings had wanted to hold onto the airport and appealed against a decision by the European Competition Commission for it to sell the Essex airport. The terms of the original ruling were upheld however and the airport operator was forced to sell Gatwick, Stansted and Edinburgh airports.
