Indonesia’s Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatto Airport has opened the first terminal, designated terminal 2F, for budget airlines on international routes. The airport is responding to the growth of low-cost carriers (LCC) in Southeast Asia. As part of the plans terminal 2 will be completely refurbished with the airport looking to save costs by removing the air-conditioning systems and airbridges. This plan will look to see 22 million people use the renewed terminal 2 in 2022, an increase on the 9 million passengers a year at present.
