Chennai International Airport of South India is soon to have a new rapid exit taxiway to allow more flights during peak hours. The taxiway is complete but awaiting approval from concerned authorities. The airport has been undergoing modernisation work in the last few years and the latest modernisation phase includes building more such rapid exit taxiways for smoother operations. The Airport Authority of India has invested INR 15bn for the phase II modernisation of the airport. In July 2022, Chennai airport opened its primary taxiway after four years of straightening work.
