The project for upgrading and development of Gan International Airport, Maldives has been granted to a successful bidder after a five-day stand-still period. The project is financed through a loan from the Exim Bank of India and aims to upgrade the airport terminal with state-of-the-art facilities capable of accommodating 1.5 million passengers per annum. The project will also include the development of duty-free shops, restaurants, lounge facilities, cargo facilities with cold storage for commercial and tourism use, as well as a new control tower and fire station. Additionally, the project will encompass the development of airport roads and parking areas.
