Americas-focused international airport group Asur said that fourth quarter (Q4) 2022 passenger traffic increased 18% compared to 2021 and 25.8% compared to 2019, with Mexico up almost 26% year-on-year and Colombia 37.4%. Of the over 17 million passengers reported, more than seven million went through the popular Mexican holiday destination Cancun, where Asur runs the airport. Revenue was up 7.1% year-on-year to 7.2bn Mexican pesos (US$ 390 million) based on consolidated commercial revenues per passenger of 111.6 pesos, with consolidated earnings [EBITDA] up 34.8% to 4,4bn pesos.
