Amapola, the Swedish regional airline, is testing a new electronic flight-bag for the Apple iPad on its Fokker 50 turboprop fleet. The touchscreen iPad technology was first installed in November but has recently received Swedish civil aviation authority clearance for the Class 2B fit. Once testing has been completed without any problems Amapola will be able to operate without any paper charts on board. The flightbag system uses a database provided by Navtech that contains 31,000 charts and is regularly updated.
