China Southern Airlines has introduced facial recognition at an airport in Nanyang city, Henan province. Instead of a boarding pass, cameras verified passenger’s faces with their passport photos at check in, and the system again confirmed their identity at the gate. Hou Kan, the International Air Transport Association official, said e-tickets, e-invoices and facial recognition would simplify check-in. The airline developed the system with Baidu and GRG Banking.
