Dublin-headquartered ASL Aviation Holdings and California-based Reliable Robotics Corporation said they are to jointly explore using automated aircraft. According to a statement released on December 15, the two companies “will select a suitable aircraft for Reliable’s Remotely Operated Aircraft System with initial focus on large twin engine turboprop freighters” and will “jointly assess” European demand for remotely controlled aircraft. The transatlantic tie-up was described by ASK director Hugh Flynn as “anchored on a common purpose to fully evaluate how remote and single pilot technologies can be developed and used to deliver safe, reliable and cost-effective cargo and passenger services”.
