The US Department of Transportation has fined United Airlines $2.75 million dollars (€2.52 million) for allegedly failing to adequately provide for passengers with disabilities. An inquiry found that, on numerous occasions, the airline didn’t offer the appropriate assistance to passengers with disabilities on its flights and in the terminals of major airports such as Houston, Chicago, Denver, Newark (NJ) and Dulles International Airport in Washington. Moreover, the federal investigation has found that in many cases the airline failed to return wheelchairs and other mobility aids to passengers in transit in a timely manner.
