Local officials are seeking to increase the capacity of London Luton Airport from 18 million passengers to 32 million. Luton Rising, the Luton Council company that owns the airport, has submitted an application for a development consent order to the government’s Planning Inspectorate for the expansion, which it said would add more than 10,000 jobs in the UK. The 25,000-page application includes requirements for new terminal capacity, earthworks to create an extension to the current airfield platform, new airside and landside facilities, among a list of proposed upgrades.
